Wireless application documentation for the NETSONIX
A new concept for process control measurement, designed by KAB Instruments is an evolutional change for the market.

The Netsonix system is an ethernet-based unit, designed with its intended use for all SCADA and PLC systems. Data acquired by the Netsonix units is converted to Ethernet (TCP/IP protocol). The Netsonix can then be connected directly into a LAN (Local Area Network) from where the customer is able to view it on his SCADA package using KAB OPC server. Not only can process conditions be monitored, but the customer is also able to view the operational status of the instrument. The customer is also capable of making changes to the parameters in the setup menu to suit conditions on the plant. The parameter changes are made possible by the integrated OPC server. The OPC server allows a user to view any information of the connected devices connected on the network.

The product range consists of five different units:

  • The Netsonix 15, 30 and 60 are ultrasonic level transmitters, capable of measuring levels with a range up to 60 meters. These products have an additional option of reading ten temperature probes and are able to read frequency inputs up to 10 kHz.
  • The Netsonix Digital is an 8-channel opto-isolated digital input unit.
  • The Netsonix Analogue is a 6 channel 4-20ma opto-isolated input unit.

The Netsonix is able to acquire level, distance or open channel flow measurement system with ranges of 15m, 30m, 60m and accuracy of 0.25%. This is possible by combining the Netsonix with the various transducers manufactured by KAB (KAB10, KAB20 and KAB60 transducers).

Apart from the ultrasonic level measurement, the Netsonix is capable of accepting 10 digital temperature devices that can be connected by using only a single data-bus cable thus eliminating the use of a cable to every temperature point. The temperature probe is a digital semi conductor device that provides a digital feedback regarding the measured value and is extremely accurate to +/- 0.5%. These devices are uniquely addressable so that the user knows exactly which temperature point is being looked at.
